One of three English Tudor Houses on adjoining lots constructed by the same family in 1929, the existing residence was a 3 Bedroom 1 Bath home in the SE corner of Wilmette. In the worst condition of the three and without any significant previous remodeling, the home was in danger of being demolished and was the first of two of the homes redeveloped by JWK. The complete rehabilitation had to be done in a manner that preserved the English Tudor character and details of the three unique homes.
JWK architecture designed and built the renovation with an 1,100 square foot addition including a full finished basement, new genuine stucco exterior, all new insulated double hung windows, new 200 amp electrical service, conversion of existing hot water heating to two zone forced air heating and air-conditioning, total replacement of existing plumbing system, new network capable communications and Audio Visual system and two car detached garage.
The result is a five bedroom 2 -1/2 bath home that is now the new home of a loving family.
Honorable Mention for Restoration, the Wilmette Historic Preservation Commission.
